Choosing a Veterinarian
When purchasing an AW Corgis puppy, you will be required to schedule a wellness exam for your puppy within 72 hours of picking up your puppy (this is a requirement in the contract). Your puppy will not be ready for any of their shots at this time, this visit is just for an exam and to get your puppy established with the Vet’s office. ALL of our puppy’s require that your puppy be spayed or neutered by 1 year of age.
If you do not have a Vet or if you are looking for a new Vet it is important to go ahead and choose a veterinarian now. When choosing a Veterinarian here are some things to remember:
Ask trusted sources: Get referrals from family, friends, breeder, and neighbors.
Check Credentials: Look for American Animal Hospital Association Accreditation, which signifies high standards, or membership in professional associations.
Take a Tour: Visit the facility to check for cleanliness, organization, observe how staff interacts with animals.
Services: Confirm they offer the services you need (dental, surgery, boarding, ultrasound, x-ray)
Fees: Ask about the cost of a wellness exam, puppy shots, spaying or neutering and if they accept pet insurance and if so what companies.
Methodology: Find a Vet whose approach to treatment aligns with your beliefs.
Comfort & Communication: Choose a vet and staff that makes you and your pet feel safe and comfortable. A great vet listens, explains things clearly, makes you feel heard and does not rush.
There is no reason routine care such as exams, nail trims, shots, ear cleaning, temp/weight taking can not be done in the presence of the owner. If your vet requires these to be done without you, I would suggest finding a new vet.
